Lead Engineer - Mobile Platform - Cross-Platform - Remote

Role Overview

Lead the design, development, and evolution of a next-generation cross-platform mobile platform for iOS and Android. You’ll provide technical leadership, drive modernization, and guide teams building scalable, high-performance mobile solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Platform Leadership: Define and drive the technical roadmap across React Native (cross-platform) and native iOS/Android.
• Hands-on Development: Build clean, scalable, maintainable mobile code across platform layers.
• Cross-Platform Strategy: Lead React Native adoption/evolution while supporting and modernizing native capabilities.
• Framework & Tooling: Create shared libraries, SDKs, and platform components to unify mobile development.
• Performance & Security: Ensure mobile apps are high-performance, secure, and reliable.
• Collaboration: Partner with product, backend, and design to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor and develop engineers across the mobile platform.
• Platform Modernization: Lead architectural improvements, including transitions such as native → cross-platform.
• Emerging Tech / AI: Design, develop, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into the mobile platform using responsible and secure implementation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science/Engineering (or related) or relevant equivalent experience.
• Solid experience in React Native (preferred) or ability to learn/adopt cross-platform.
• Mobile development experience in iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java).
• Proven experience building scalable mobile platforms.
• Experience leading engineering teams / providing technical direction.
• Experience with APIs (REST/GraphQL).
• Experience with cloud platforms and CI/CD and modern engineering practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• React Native production experience.
• Experience transitioning from native → cross-platform.
• Experience integrating AI/ML in mobile.
• Experience building platform-level/shared mobile capabilities.
• Strong understanding of global-scale app performance and reliability.

Location / Remote Policy

• Remote within the U.S.
• For hires in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area: required to work in the office at least 4 days/week.
