About the role
Role Overview
Lead Cloud Platform Engineer at Coupa (Full remote). You will oversee and architect a highly scaled cloud environment, champion automation and FinOps practices, and collaborate across teams to drive sustainable cost avoidance.
Key Missions
- Architect, manage, and scale enterprise Kubernetes infrastructure (e.g., EKS/GKE) to ensure high availability and performance.
- Drive automated continuous platform optimization, reducing manual tuning through scalable automated resource management.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, FinOps, and Finance to align technical and financial objectives for sustainable cost avoidance.
Profile / Requirements
- Deep expertise in AWS/GCP, containerization, and managing large compute footprints.
- Strong understanding of FinOps and experience implementing cost avoidance strategies in a cloud-native environment.
- Proven experience as a Platform Engineer / Cloud Engineer / SRE managing Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) at massive enterprise scale.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills and a track record of aligning technical goals with business and financial outcomes.
- Hands-on experience with intelligent resource automation platforms (e.g., ScaleOps) and automated scaling tools such as Karpenter.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, OpenTofu) and configuration management.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience directly tied to Kubernetes platform operations at large scale and/or advanced cloud cost optimization programs.
