About the role

Role Overview

Lead Application Architect at MapLarge (senior IC). You will design the framework, component model, and API surface that complex applications on the MapLarge platform are built on. This is a hands-on, TypeScript-heavy role focused on composable primitives, clear contracts, and data-driven declarative flows.

Responsibilities

  • Design reusable, composable UI components with clear contracts and boundaries.
  • Stay hands-on in TypeScript: build patterns, review code, and pair with developers.
  • Architect data-driven, declarative UI flows to keep complex live-updating apps predictable.
  • Design and maintain the framework/SDK API surface used by application developers.
  • Build framework-agnostic UI foundations that interoperate with major frameworks like React.
  • Create abstractions that scale across multiple applications and use cases.
  • Ensure performance and responsiveness with large, dynamic datasets.
  • Mentor developers and raise the team’s front-end architecture capability.

Requirements

  • Must reside in the continental United States.
  • 8+ years of front-end development experience with strong TypeScript skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related field).
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. with no visa sponsorship required.
  • Experience designing reusable, composable UI components.
  • Strong API design skills across client frameworks and backend data flows.
  • Experience building framework-agnostic UI architecture interoperable with React.
  • Ability to think across UX flows and underlying data models.

Nice to Have

  • Data visualization or geospatial UI experience (e.g., D3, Canvas/WebGL, mapping, large interactive visuals).
  • Familiarity with reactive/declarative patterns (e.g., RxJS, signals, observable-based bindings).
  • Web-components architecture or design systems using CSS custom properties.
  • Experience building SDKs/platform APIs for external developers.
  • Real-time/streaming data in the UI.
  • Familiarity with .NET/C# to understand end-to-end API flows.
  • US person status or clearance eligibility (helpful for some customers, not required).

Remote / Location

  • 100% remote from the continental US excluding Pacific Time Zone and New York state.
