About the role

Role Overview

You will join M-KOPA as Lead AI Engineer (Financial Inclusion) to launch and lead a new AI Ops team. The role is focused on building automations and agentic tooling (not training/fine-tuning models), and integrating AI into internal and customer-facing product experiences.

Responsibilities

Lead the AI Ops team: oversee delivery, team growth, and demonstrate team value.
Build automations and agents for internal use, acting as an internal consultant for Software Engineering teams.
Integrate AI into customer-facing products.
Manage competing requests from multiple teams using a clear prioritization framework.
Maintain and keep the AI tooling stack healthy.
People leadership: manage and develop two AI Ops Engineers.

Requirements

Hands-on experience building automations (scripting, workflow tools, or AI-assisted development).
Background with enterprise tooling (e.g., rapid prototyping tools like Vercel/Railway, identity automation like Entra, or internal platforms).
People leadership experience (led or mentored engineers; owns delivery and team development).
Hands-on experience building agentic systems using frameworks such as LangChain, MCP, Google ADK, or similar.
Strong technical background with a product-focused mindset.

Nice-to-haves / Clarifications

You won’t be building models, as dedicated Data Science teams handle model work.
