About the role

Role Overview

Core4ce is seeking a Lead Agilist to provide strategic Agile leadership for the Integrated Healthcare Transformation (IHT) initiative supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). You will act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and large program teams, driving adoption and continuous improvement of Agile and SAFe practices across enterprise healthcare technology environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide Agile transformation initiatives and provide strategic guidance on Agile principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Serve as the primary Agile and SAFe subject matter expert for modernization and transformation efforts within VHA.
  • Design, implement, and mature Agile operating models aligned with organizational goals, mission objectives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coach and lead Agile adoption across executives, managers, Product Managers/Owners, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and development teams.
  • Support SAFe implementation including:
    • Lean Portfolio Management
    • Program Increment (PI) Planning
    • Inspect and Adapt events
    • Agile Release Train launches
  • Assess organizational Agile maturity and build transformation roadmaps to improve delivery effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Identify impediments to Agile adoption and recommend solutions to improve collaboration, transparency, and delivery performance.
  • Develop and deliver Agile/SAFe training, workshops, and coaching across organizational levels.
  • Establish and monitor Agile metrics/KPIs and reporting mechanisms to evaluate transformation progress.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, contractors, and technical teams to align Agile practices with healthcare technology modernization objectives.
  • Promote continuous improvement, servant leadership, and customer-centric delivery.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging Agile methodologies and industry trends, especially for healthcare/health IT.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • 15+ years leading Agile transformations and large-scale Agile implementations in medium/large organizations.
  • Certified SAFe Practice Consultant–Trainer (SPCT) certification (required).
  • Expert-level hands-on experience adopting and scaling Agile enterprise practices.
  • Extensive experience implementing and supporting Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) at the enterprise level.
  • Proven experience coaching/mentoring executives and delivery teams through Agile transformations.
  • Experience leading multiple Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and large-scale SAFe implementations.
  • Experience establishing Agile governance, metrics, and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, stakeholder management, and change management skills.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, healthcare technology, or health IT modernization initiatives.
  • Ability to influence and drive change across complex organizations.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting federal government agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or Veterans Health Administration.
