Kubernetes Service Engineer

Role Overview

Bright Vision Technologies is hiring a Kubernetes Service Engineer (100% remote in the U.S.) to design, deploy, and operate service mesh platforms—primarily Istio and Linkerd—for secure, observable, and reliable service-to-service communication across Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate service mesh capabilities for Kubernetes-based platforms
• Drive mesh adoption and help application teams benefit from the mesh efficiently
• Implement and maintain mTLS and traffic policy across the cluster estate
• Ensure secure, observable, and reliable mesh traffic with strong production practices
• Partner with teams to provide pragmatic adoption strategies and platform engineering guidance

Requirements

• 6+ years in platform engineering, SRE, or networking
• Hands-on production experience operating Istio or Linkerd
• Deep understanding of Envoy proxy internals and data plane behavior
• Strong Kubernetes expertise (networking, CNI, ingress)
• Solid knowledge of mTLS, PKI, and certificate lifecycle management
• Experience with distributed tracing and observability for service mesh traffic
• Proficiency in Go or Python for tooling and automation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multi-cluster Istio/Linkerd deployments
• Familiarity with Cilium service mesh and eBPF networking
• Open-source contributions to service mesh projects
• Experience with SPIFFE/SPIRE for workload identity
• Exposure to zero-trust networking initiatives at enterprise scale

Compensation & Logistics

• Full-time (Direct W2)
• $100,000–$150,000 annually
• Sponsorship: U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates encouraged; no new H-1B petitions for this position.
