About the role

Kubernetes / Platform Engineer (Hybrid)

Platform Engineer to design, build, and maintain an internal developer platform enabling reliable software delivery at scale across multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Cloud: Provision and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure, AWS, and GCP using Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
  • Manage Terraform Cloud (workspaces, module registries) and policy-as-code governance (e.g., Sentinel / OPA).
  • Architect and operate Kubernetes clusters across cloud providers (node pools, autoscaling, networking/CNI/service mesh, storage).
  • Define cloud landing zones and identity/access frameworks aligned to security standards.
  • GitOps & Continuous Delivery: Run and evolve GitOps delivery pipelines using Flux (cluster state, Helm releases, environment promotions from version control like GitHub).
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with pipeline-as-code tools (e.g., Harness, GitHub Actions) including build, test, security scanning, and deployment workflows.
  • Champion GitOps best practices (templates, documentation, enablement).
  • Observability & Reliability: Implement full-stack observability (e.g., Dynatrace) including distributed tracing, monitoring, logs, synthetic monitoring, and SLO/SLI tracking.
  • Define alerting, runbooks, and escalation paths; drive incident response and post-incident reviews.
  • Track and improve platform reliability metrics (availability, error rate, latency).
  • Developer Experience: Deliver self-service developer platform features (golden-path templates, shared libraries, developer portals) and reduce complexity for application teams.
  • Collaborate with security, networking, and application engineering teams to integrate platform capabilities into the SDLC.
  • Security & Compliance: Embed security controls in platform tooling (secrets management, image scanning, policy enforcement, RBAC, audit logging).
  • Support compliance needs (e.g., SOC 2, PCI-DSS) via infrastructure controls and auditability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes production experience on at least one major cloud (AKS, EKS, or GKE).
  • Strong Terraform and Terraform Cloud experience (workspaces, remote state, module registry, policy as code).
  • Demonstrated GitOps and continuous delivery (e.g., Flux, Argo CD, or equivalent).
  • CI/CD pipeline experience with tools such as Harness, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Multi-cloud knowledge across two or more of Azure/AWS/GCP.
  • Scripting/programming language proficiency: Python, Go, or Bash.
  • Observability platform experience (e.g., Dynatrace, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana) and understanding of observability fundamentals.
  • Networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, load balancing, VPN).

Location / Work Model

  • Hybrid: 3x per week in Lincolnshire, IL (United States).
  • Non-visa candidates only.
