Role Overview
You will join AIS as a Kubernetes Platform Engineer (Senior Infrastructure Engineer) supporting a client within Azure Government. The role owns the AKS platform layer—deploying, configuring, securing, and validating Kubernetes to support enterprise workloads.
Responsibilities
- Configure AKS platform components: node pools, namespaces, service accounts, Kubernetes RBAC, resource quotas/limit ranges, network policies, ingress controllers, storage classes, and workload identity.
- Secure private AKS patterns: Kubernetes API access controls, admin access paths, DNS validation, and cluster access procedures.
- Set up approved service exposure: internal load balancers, ingress controllers, Application Gateway integration, and other customer-approved patterns.
- Implement storage integrations: Azure Disk, Azure Files, CSI drivers, persistent volumes/claims, and workload-specific storage requirements.
- Configure secrets & certificates: Azure Key Vault, Key Vault CSI driver, managed identities, workload identity, and approved certificate management processes.
- Onboard and support workloads: help deploy Adexone, BdBridge, Pipestress, and UiPath Automation Suite into AKS.
- Platform operations & quality: validate changes, enforce best practices/QA, optimize for reliability and user experience.
- Automation & performance: contribute to advanced automation initiatives and performance/capacity planning.
Requirements
- Strong foundation designing complex network and hybrid-cloud solutions.
- Experience implementing security controls, DR/BCP, and automated Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with deployment pipelines.
- Ability to perform advanced performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Demonstrated skills in root-cause analysis, reliability-focused operations, and ensuring changes are validated.
- Ability to lead cross-functional efforts, provide knowledge transfer, and mentor junior engineers.
- Strategic communication and stakeholder alignment around technical plans and infrastructure initiatives.
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience with AKS in Azure Government and enterprise workload platform operations.
- Familiarity with Helm and Kubernetes manifests for platform/application deployment.
- Experience integrating observability into Kubernetes platform operations (as part of platform ownership).
