About the role

Role: Kubernetes & OpenShift Engineer

Design, deploy, and operate enterprise-grade Red Hat OpenShift container platforms that run mission-critical workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, provision, and operate Red Hat OpenShift clusters on-premises, virtualized, and major cloud environments with a focus on high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Build multi-tenant OpenShift platforms using project isolation, NetworkPolicies, quotas, RBAC, and SecurityContextConstraints.
  • Automate cluster lifecycle operations (installations, upgrades, scaling, decommissioning) using OpenShift installer, GitOps tooling (Argo CD / OpenShift GitOps), and IaC.
  • Onboard application teams with self-service patterns, project templates, CI/CD integrations, and supporting documentation.
  • Operate OpenShift networking (SDN/OVN-Kubernetes, ingress controllers, routes, network policies) and integrate with enterprise firewalls/load balancers.
  • Manage OpenShift storage (block/file/object), including dynamic provisioning, OpenShift Data Foundation, and external storage integrations.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing using Prometheus, Grafana, EFK, Tempo, integrating with SIEM and APM tools.
  • Harden the platform with security teams: image scanning (Quay/Clair), runtime protection, secret management, and continuous compliance.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines on OpenShift using Tekton, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Argo Workflows.
  • Create disaster recovery and backup strategies for cluster state (etcd) and persistent workloads; validate via failover/restore drills.
  • Plan and execute cluster upgrades (minor/major) with minimal disruption, including pre-validation and rollback.
  • Collaborate with application teams to right-size workloads, manage quotas, and tune cluster autoscaling.
  • Improve platform tooling and developer experience; capture user feedback to drive roadmap.
  • Mentor junior engineers and act as an OpenShift SME.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years operating container platforms in production, including 3+ years on Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes (continuation cut off in provided text).
