About the role

Kubernetes Engineer Lead

Lead the design, automation, operation, and modernization of enterprise Kubernetes platforms across hybrid cloud environments, ensuring reliability, security, and scalable application delivery.

Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Operations

  • Own the lifecycle management of EKS Anywhere Kubernetes platforms (provisioning, upgrades, security, scalability, and operational excellence)
  • Design and build internal platform services, tooling, and automation frameworks
  • Develop custom Kubernetes operators and controllers to simplify administration and application onboarding
  • Drive platform standardization, governance, and best practices

Cloud Native Automation & GitOps

  • Lead GitOps deployment/configuration management using ArgoCD and Helm
  • Build self-service capabilities and reusable deployment patterns
  • Automate platform operations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud-native tooling
  • Support CI/CD practices

Observability & Reliability

  • Design and operate monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing
  • Implement OpenTelemetry-based observability integrated with enterprise monitoring tools
  • Lead incident management, RCA, and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Drive capacity planning, performance optimization, and operational maturity

Security & Secrets Management

  • Implement secure Kubernetes platform architectures and security controls
  • Design/manage secrets management with HashiCorp Vault and Kubernetes integrations
  • Automate credential management, rotation, and compliance-related controls
  • Collaborate with security teams on governance and risk mitigation

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Develop/manage infrastructure with Terraform and AWS services
  • Build event-driven automation using serverless/cloud-native technologies
  • Support multi-account environments and modernization initiatives
  • Promote automation-first approaches to reduce operational overhead

AI-Enabled Platform Innovation

  • Develop and integrate AI-assisted operational tooling for diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Evaluate emerging automation/innovation opportunities in platform engineering
  • Promote intelligent operations and engineering efficiency improvements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Platform Engineering / Cloud Engineering / DevOps / SRE
  • Hands-on experience running production Kubernetes environments
  • Proven background in infrastructure automation and cloud-native technologies
  • Experience supporting mission-critical enterprise platforms

Technical Skills (Key)

  • Kubernetes: EKS Anywhere, cluster lifecycle, troubleshooting, YAMLs, scaling, node replacement
  • GitOps/deployment: ArgoCD, Helm
  • Observability: OpenTelemetry, Datadog/Splunk/Prometheus
  • Security: HashiCorp Vault, image security policy enforcement, sealed secrets patterns
  • IaC/cloud: Terraform, AWS
  • Scripting/programming: Go, Python, Bash, Linux administration

Nice-to-Have / Additional Details

  • Experience with Rafay platform administration
  • Knowledge of advanced EKS Anywhere components such as CAPI, kube-vip, HAProxy, load balancers, and storage resources (StorageClass/PVC/PV)

Location / Work Arrangement

  • East Coast – Remote
  • Preferred base: Miami, FL due to possible client visits; may need to go onsite eventually

  • 6 months (CTH)
