About the role

Kubernetes Engineer Lead

Lead the design, build, and operations of enterprise Kubernetes platforms with a focus on reliability, automation, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and manage enterprise Kubernetes platforms
  • Administer EKS Anywhere across the full cluster lifecycle
  • Implement GitOps using Argo CD and Helm (including ApplicationSets/App-of-Apps patterns)
  • Build platform automation and self-service capabilities
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing
  • Manage Kubernetes security, secrets, and policy enforcement
  • Support AWS cloud infrastructure modernization
  • Improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence

Required Skills

  • Enterprise Kubernetes platform operations and cluster lifecycle management
  • Kubernetes: EKS Anywhere, Cluster API (CAPI), eksctl-anywhere, cluster/workload concepts, node replacement, scaling, troubleshooting
  • Networking/storage: kube-vip, HAProxy, LoadBalancer services, StorageClass, PV/PVC
  • GitOps & deployment: Argo CD, GitOps, Helm, ApplicationSets, Sync policies
  • IaC & automation: Terraform, CI/CD pipelines
  • Cloud & infrastructure: AWS Cloud
  • Programming/scripting: Go, Python, Bash
  • OS: Linux administration
  • Observability: OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus
  • Security: HashiCorp Vault, Vault integration, Sealed Secrets, Trust Manager, image security policy enforcement
  • Platform/cluster organization: Rafay Platform concepts (blueprints/fleets), namespace/environment/policy management (where applicable)

Preferred / Nice-to-Haves

  • Kubernetes Operators & Controllers development
  • Event-driven automation, serverless technologies
  • AI-assisted operations and operational automation
  • Platform engineering best practices, capacity planning
  • Root cause analysis (RCA), incident management, performance tuning
  • Enterprise governance and internal developer platforms
  • Rafay and Harness experience
  • Multi-account AWS architecture
  • Self-service platform engineering and cloud-native platform modernization

Experience

  • 8+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering
  • Extensive experience managing enterprise production Kubernetes environments
  • Experience supporting mission-critical, highly available platforms
