Kubernetes Engineer Lead

Role Overview

Lead the design, build, and operations of enterprise Kubernetes platforms, with a focus on Kubernetes on AWS (EKS Anywhere) and platform reliability/automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage enterprise Kubernetes platforms
• Administer EKS Anywhere across the full cluster lifecycle (cluster lifecycle management, node replacement, scaling, troubleshooting)
• Implement GitOps with Argo CD and Helm (including ApplicationSets and App-of-Apps patterns)
• Build platform automation and self-service capabilities
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
• Implement and operate monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing
• Manage Kubernetes security, secrets, and policy enforcement (e.g., Vault, sealed secrets, trust manager)
• Support AWS cloud infrastructure modernization
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence

Required Skills

• Kubernetes platform engineering (enterprise production) and cluster lifecycle management
• EKS Anywhere, Cluster API (CAPI), eksctl-anywhere
• Networking and storage fundamentals for Kubernetes (kube-vip, HAProxy/LoadBalancer, StorageClass, PV/PVC)
• GitOps: Argo CD, Helm, ApplicationSets, sync policies
• IaC: Terraform; CI/CD pipelines
• Programming/scripting: Go, Python, Bash
• Linux administration
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus
• Security/secrets/policy: HashiCorp Vault, Sealed Secrets, Trust Manager, image security policy enforcement

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Kubernetes operators/controllers and event-driven automation
• Serverless technologies and AI-assisted operations
• Platform engineering best practices, capacity planning, RCA and incident management
• Performance tuning and enterprise governance
• Experience with Rafay and Harness
• Internal developer platforms and self-service platform engineering
• Multi-account AWS architecture; cloud-native and platform modernization initiatives
