  • Architect multi-cluster, multi-AZ Kubernetes environments with high availability, fault tolerance, and workload isolation.
  • Manage the full EKS/Kubernetes cluster lifecycle: provisioning, version upgrades, node group management, add-on lifecycle, and decommissioning.
  • Design and implement Kubernetes networking:
    • VPC CNI configuration
    • Ingress controllers (AWS Load Balancer Controller)
    • Service mesh
    • DNS
  • Implement cluster autoscaling strategies using Karpenter and/or Cluster Autoscaler, including Spot/On-Demand node pool design and cost optimization.
  • Manage Kubernetes RBAC (Roles/ClusterRoles and bindings) across namespaces and teams.
  • Implement IRSA (IAM Roles for Service Accounts) to grant AWS permissions to workloads without node-level credentials.
  • Build and maintain Terraform IaC for EKS and supporting AWS infrastructure (VPC, IAM, ECR, EKS).
  • Enforce resource governance using ResourceQuotas, LimitRanges, PodDisruptionBudgets, and PriorityClasses.
  • Design and manage persistent storage (EBS CSI and EFS CSI, StorageClass configuration, and backup strategies).
  • Build and maintain Dynatrace dashboards and monitors/alerts for Kubernetes health, workload performance, and infrastructure metrics.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and application teams to onboard workloads, establish cluster standards, and respond to platform incidents.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve production incidents related to cluster infrastructure, scheduling, networking, and storage.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT/Engineering or related field.
  • 14+ years total experience (posting states not to apply if less than 14 years).
  • 7+ years overall IT Infrastructure/Cloud/Platform Engineering.
  • 4+ years hands-on Kubernetes cluster administration in production.
  • Strong end-to-end Amazon EKS cluster design/build/operations.
  • Deep knowledge of Kubernetes networking (VPC CNI, ingress, DNS).
  • Hands-on Karpenter or Cluster Autoscaler experience for dynamic node provisioning.
  • Strong Terraform experience for EKS and AWS infrastructure.
  • Kubernetes RBAC and IRSA experience.
  • Dynatrace dashboards plus monitors/alerts experience.
  • Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tooling for workload delivery.
  • Linux administration and AWS core services (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, ECR).
  • Experience migrating data from Dynatrace to Datadog.

Preferred Skills

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer or equivalent).
  • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
  • Python and/or Bash scripting for automation.
  • Helm or Kustomize.
  • Prometheus/Grafana knowledge.
  • Multi-cloud/hybrid Kubernetes experience (AKS/GKE with EKS).
