Role Overview
Texas Sports Academy is hiring a Junior Full-Stack Product Engineer to build the web apps and internal tools that run its K-12 campuses. You’ll own features end to end in a TypeScript stack, shipping real user-facing product with real polish.
What You’ll Do
- Build full-stack features in TypeScript
- Own features end to end (UI → API routes → database schema)
- Ship to production and iterate based on real usage
- Design UI that holds up
- Create clean, responsive React + Tailwind interfaces that work well on phones and laptops
- Care about visual quality and UX details (not just rendering)
- Own the backend behind your features
- Write API routes, data models, and database queries
- Handle auth patterns (not delegated)
- Think in products, not tickets
- Turn coach/parent/operator problems into shippable v1s
- Scope, decide what to build vs. cut, and push back when specs are off
- Model data and write queries
- Design Postgres schemas, write migrations, and tune dependent queries
- Use Prisma or Drizzle; use raw SQL when appropriate
- Integrate tools and webhooks
- Connect the app to Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, Workable, and AI providers
- Keep production healthy
- Logging, error/loading states, monitoring, and operational product details
Requirements
- Shipped full-stack TypeScript apps end to end
- Built in Next.js (or similar TypeScript framework) with a real database, real users, and a deployed URL
- Be ready to explain how you built it and what you’d do differently
- Strong product instincts
- Turn half-formed ideas into working v1s; make scope and edge-case decisions
- Strong frontend ownership
- Clean React, good component/state management, attention to UI/UX details
- Comfort owning the backend
- Postgres data modeling, API development, auth, and performance reasoning
- Comfort across the stack
- Move from React → API route → database migration quickly
- Finish what you start
- Communicate clearly, flag blockers early, and prioritize completion + polish
- U.S. remote + authorization
- Remote (U.S.); U.S. work authorization required
Bonus / Nice-to-Haves
- Design sense: comfortable in Figma; can turn rough sketches into working UI
- Portfolio: GitHub, live side project, personal site, or other public work to show
