About the role

Role overview

Topstep is seeking a Junior Manual QA Engineer to join its quality team. You’ll test features across web applications, find and report bugs, and collaborate with engineers and product teams to maintain quality standards—while building a strong foundation in quality engineering.

Responsibilities

Execute manual test cases across web applications to validate functionality, usability, and overall quality
Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases, usability issues, and potential defects
Document and report bugs with clear reproduction steps, screenshots, and expected vs. actual results
Collaborate with engineers and product managers on feature requirements and acceptance criteria
Verify bug fixes and support regression testing prior to releases
Maintain and improve test case documentation
Test across browsers, devices, and user scenarios
Participate in daily standups with clear status updates
Learn and apply QA methodologies and best practices

Requirements

0–2 years of experience in QA or related work (internships, bootcamps, or relevant coursework acceptable)
Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies
Excellent written communication for test results and bug reports
Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle and testing fundamentals
Comfortable with web browsers, developer tools, and basic testing tools
Ability to follow test plans and execute test cases systematically
Strong problem-solving mindset and curiosity
Good collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities

Nice to have

Familiarity with bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Linear)
Basic understanding of databases/SQL
Exposure to API testing concepts/tools (e.g., Postman, Insomnia)
Experience testing financial/trading/fintech applications
Knowledge of trading terminology or brokerage operations
Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and using browser developer tools
Course/certification in QA/testing
Experience with test management tools (e.g., Qase, TestRail)
Interest in learning test automation in the future
