About the role
Role Overview
Junior Full Stack Developer (Remote/Telework) for supporting energy-related dashboards, Open Data APIs, websites, and data update procedures for a leading government agency. You will translate client work requests into technical requirements and help deliver information dissemination products such as dashboards and web applications.
Responsibilities
- Application development & maintenance:
- Support development and maintenance of dashboards, Open Data APIs, websites, and data update procedures
- Develop and maintain web apps using HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, and PHP
- Assist in designing and supporting interactive web applications
- Data integration & management:
- Move and integrate datasets between multiple databases on different servers
- Maintain data relationships across multiple database tables
- Learn datasets, business rules, and underlying data structures
- Web operations & deployment:
- Support deployment and ongoing operations of web applications
- Monitor applications, identify issues, and help isolate, escalate, and resolve errors
- Assist with build/deployment automation using CI/CD tools
- Technical analysis & documentation:
- Translate client work requests into actionable technical requirements
- Document requirements, specifications, and system functionality
- Collaboration & delivery:
- Participate in team-based delivery of dashboards and information products
- Use version control and branching models collaboratively
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 2–4 years experience with client-server or distributed architecture environments (including Microsoft or web apps)
- 2–4 years building web applications using HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript, and PHP
- Experience integrating datasets across multiple databases/servers
- Working knowledge of Internet Information Services (IIS) for Windows Server
- Front-end experience designing interactive web applications
- Web operations management experience (deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting/error isolation)
- Git and GitFlow (or equivalent branching/version control understanding)
- Familiarity with CI/CD (e.g., GitLab CI/CD) and build/deploy automation
- Ability to document technical requirements and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet daily deliverables with a required start time of 7:00 AM EST
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AngularJS or other advanced JavaScript libraries/frameworks
- PHP framework experience with Slim, plus Composer dependency management
- Familiarity with Highcharts or similar data visualization tools
- SQL development experience (scripts, views, stored procedures)
- Understanding asynchronous requests, partial updates, and AJAX
- Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as LESS and SASS
