Role overview

As a Junior Data Scientist at Why Hiring, you’ll help extract insights from complex datasets and support the development and validation of predictive and AI/ML models. You’ll collaborate with analysts, engineers, and cross-functional partners to build data-driven solutions and improve data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Perform statistical analysis and data exploration to derive meaningful insights
• Support development and validation of predictive models (identify trends and patterns)
• Contribute to AI/ML models and other data-driven solutions
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to support decision-making and operational planning
• Build and maintain data pipelines for collection, processing, and integration
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to improve data workflows
• Develop scripts/tools to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency
• Support initiatives to improve data quality, structure, and accessibility
• Apply basic experimental/analytical approaches to test ideas and evaluate outcomes
• Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for optimization

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau for data visualization
• Strong understanding of statistical techniques and modeling approaches
• Foundational knowledge of AI/ML concepts and applications
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with cloud-based big data technologies
• Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
• Understanding of intelligence analysis processes and mission requirements
• Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets
