About the role

Role Overview

Junior Cloud Engineer (Platform/Cloud-focused) at ArcheSys Inc. This is a fully remote, full-time position serving public sector customers. You’ll work as a consultant/developer/problem solver, delivering secure cloud solutions and improving efficiency and cost for government organizations.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure setup & maintenance (AWS): Assist with building and maintaining cloud infrastructure.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop/deploy IaC using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Automation & optimization:
- Automate deployment processes to reduce manual effort.
- Improve cost, system performance, and resource utilization.
- Create automation scripts/tools for installation, configuration, and maintenance.
CI/CD pipelines: Maintain and enhance CI/CD using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Help teams integrate solutions into automated pipelines.
Collaboration & support: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate applications/services and troubleshoot issues.
Monitoring & incident response:
- Implement monitoring for proactive issue detection.
- Participate in incident response to restore service during outages.
- Set up monitoring with New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
- Help build alerting mechanisms.
Documentation & knowledge sharing: Document configurations/procedures and maintain a knowledge base; support internal knowledge-sharing.
Compliance: Adhere to established IT policies and guidelines.
Professional development: Continuously learn emerging cloud/DevOps best practices and participate in training.

Requirements / Qualifications

U.S. authorization required: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or EAD).
Residency: Must have lived in the U.S. for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
Clearance: Public Trust Clearance (or ability to obtain).

Nice-to-haves

Experience/comfort with AWS-focused infrastructure, IaC, CI/CD, monitoring/observability, and incident response practices.
