Jr Software Tester / QA Engineer

Role Overview

Jr Software Tester / QA Engineer supporting a large-scale federal contract for the US Army Corps of Engineers. This is a fully remote role focused on ensuring mission-critical applications meet functional, integration, and regression quality requirements through manual and automated testing.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, and system testing using QA methodologies and approved test plans
• Create and maintain test cases, test scripts, and traceability matrices aligned to requirements
• Identify, log, and track defects using Jira (or similar issue-tracking tools)
• Support development of automated test scripts, e.g. with Selenium (or similar tools)
• Assist with test environment setup, test data preparation, and configuration management
• Perform basic performance and security testing to validate resilience and non-functional requirements
• Collaborate with developers to improve testability and resolve defects
• Produce test reports and quality metrics to communicate status and release risk to stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, or related) or equivalent experience
• 1–3 years of QA/software testing experience and foundational QA/test methodology knowledge
• Ability to design, implement, and report on test plans and test cases
• Familiarity with defect tracking tools and basic scripting/automation concepts
• Strong written/verbal communication skills; proficiency with standard office tools
• Active Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship
• A+, Network+, or Security+ certification to meet DoD 8140

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automated testing tools and scripting languages
• Knowledge of Agile or DevOps environments and workflows
• ISTQB Foundation Level (or similar)
• Experience testing mission-critical enterprise/federal systems
