Jr. Python Developer

Role Overview

Concept Plus is seeking a Junior Python Developer to support a mission-critical, enterprise-scale application operating in secure client environments, including DDIL (Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, Limited) communication conditions. The role focuses on Python backend development, Pyodide-based execution environments, secure coding practices, and backend feature development under senior engineering guidance.

Responsibilities

Backend Engineering (Python & Pyodide)

• Contribute to the development, debugging, and enhancement of Python backend components.
• Help analyze and refactor existing Python codebases with senior engineer guidance.
• Build and maintain Python modules intended for Pyodide execution, ensuring WebAssembly/browser runtime compatibility.
• Support lightweight Python execution for DDIL/offline-first environments using Pyodide and related tooling.
• Resolve defects, IRs (incident/engineering issues), performance issues, and data-related errors.

DevSecOps & Cloud

• Participate in secure CI/CD workflows, including SAST, SCA/dependency checks, and pipeline validation.
• Collaborate to ensure Python code and Pyodide packages integrate cleanly with build/deployment workflows.
• Learn and apply Cloud One or GovCloud development practices (e.g., environment validation and configuration).
• Follow Git-based workflows (branching, pull requests) and secure version control practices.
• Build foundational understanding of Zero Trust development principles and secure execution environments.

Additional

• Support ATO processes: documentation updates, vulnerability remediation, and compliance tracking.
• Handle PII, PHI, and CUI securely.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives).
• Contribute to User Assessment Events (UAEs) and human-centered design improvements for backend capabilities.
• Collaborate with multi-vendor teams and government stakeholders.

Requirements

• US Citizen and ability to obtain and/or maintain a government clearance.
• 3+ years of hands-on Python development (including backend feature development).
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Foundational understanding of Pyodide, WebAssembly, and browser-based Python execution.
• Experience with REST APIs, data modeling, and backend service integrations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Ability to follow secure coding guidelines and learn DoD-aligned security standards.
• Experience using Git.

Nice-to-haves / Additional focus areas (implicit)

• Eagerness to learn DevSecOps, Zero Trust, and disconnected/offline operations concepts.
• Exposure to DoD frameworks/standards such as NIST SP 800-53, 800-171, CMMC, and STIGs.
