Jr DevOps Engineer

Role Overview

The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation is seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to help develop, deploy, and maintain data and AI products. You’ll support AWS cloud infrastructure, contribute to full-stack applications, and work with nonprofit partners to help them adopt the tools.

Responsibilities

• Cloud infrastructure & operations: Maintain and improve AWS environments using infrastructure-as-code (VPC, IAM policies, secrets management, logging, backups, cost controls).
• Application development: Write production frontend and backend code for shared platform services and internal tooling.
• CI/CD & automation: Contribute to deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions; automate testing, container builds, releases, environment provisioning, and dependency updates.
• Containerization & platform support: Support the Docker-based deployment platform, including build workflows, deployment strategies, and autoscaling.
• Observability & incident response: Implement and maintain metrics, centralized logging, alerting, and dashboards; participate in incident response with guidance from senior engineers.
• Developer experience: Build and maintain internal documentation, service templates, and local development tooling.
• Partner collaboration: Work with nonprofit partners to translate technical concepts, gather feedback, and feed partner needs into the product cycle.

Requirements

• Early-career/junior level with capability to grow under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Experience contributing to cloud infrastructure, automation/deployment systems, and production software development.

Nice to Have

• Experience working across disciplines in short cycles (small team, collaborative environment).
• Familiarity with building AI/data product infrastructure and supporting external users/partners.
