About the role

Jr. Data Engineer (Remote)

Join Cutsforth to help design and maintain scalable data pipelines and deploy AI/ML models that drive real operational outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ML workflows for operational and analytical needs
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented Python code for data processing, model development, and automation
  • Analyze complex datasets, especially time-series and machine health data, to support decision-making
  • Build, validate, and monitor AI/ML models in production; proactively identify and resolve performance issues
  • Communicate technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Participate in cross-functional planning to align data engineering efforts with business goals
  • Stay current with AI/ML techniques and tools, especially for power/oil-and-gas environments
  • Document processes, models, and systems to support knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in data engineering, data science, or a related technical role
  • 2+ years hands-on AI/ML modeling experience, including building and deploying models in production
  • Strong Python proficiency for data engineering and machine learning workflows
  • Experience designing and managing end-to-end ML pipelines (data ingestion → feature engineering → model training → deployment)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Data Science, Engineering, Math, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
  • Experience with machine health/condition monitoring datasets
  • Power, oil, or gas industry experience (operational data, equipment telemetry, industrial IoT)
  • Familiarity with time-series modeling, forecasting, and anomaly detection
  • Experience with cloud ML platforms (e.g., Azure) and orchestration tools

Additional Notes

  • Remote role with required 1-week training at the Washington office
  • Must reside in the United States; no visa sponsorship
  • Not accepting remote applicants from California, Illinois, and New York at this time
  • Must pass a background check for cybersecurity access; expectations include maintaining a cybersecure work environment
