About the role
Role Overview
Join Cutsforth as a Jr. Data Engineer (Remote) to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and help deploy AI/ML models that turn complex operational datasets (e.g., machine health and time-series data) into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ML workflows for operational and analytical needs
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented Python for data processing, model development, and automation
- Analyze complex datasets (including time-series and machine health) to generate meaningful insights
- Build, validate, and monitor AI/ML models in production, proactively addressing performance issues
- Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Participate in cross-functional planning to align data engineering work with business goals
- Stay current with advancements in AI/ML techniques and tools, especially for power, oil, and gas environments
- Document processes, models, and systems to support knowledge sharing
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in data engineering, data science, or a related technical role
- 2+ years hands-on AI/ML modeling, including building and deploying models to production
- Strong Python skills for data engineering and machine learning workflows
- Experience designing and managing end-to-end ML pipelines (ingestion → feature engineering → training → deployment)
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Experience with machine health datasets / condition monitoring applications
- Background in power, oil, and gas (operational data, equipment telemetry, industrial IoT)
- Familiarity with time-series modeling, forecasting, and anomaly detection
- Experience with Azure ML and orchestration tools

- Must successfully pass a background check for cybersecurity access requirements and maintain a cybersecure work environment
Employment & Location
- Full-time, exempt salaried role
- Remote position; 1 week of training required at the Washington office
- Must reside in the United States

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $84,299–$117,636 (dependent on years of experience)
