About the role
Role Overview
Join Cutsforth as a Jr. Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines and develop/deploy AI/ML models that turn operational datasets (including machine health and time-series data) into actionable insights.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ML workflows for operational and analytical needs
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented Python for data processing, model development, and automation
- Analyze complex datasets (time-series and machine health) to surface meaningful insights and support decisions
- Build, validate, and monitor AI/ML models in production, proactively resolving performance issues
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Participate in cross-functional planning to align data engineering efforts with business goals
- Stay current on advances in AI/ML (especially for power, oil, and gas applications)
- Document processes, models, and systems for knowledge sharing and continuity
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years experience in data engineering, data science, or a related technical role
- 2+ years hands-on AI/ML modeling, including building and deploying models in production
- Strong Python skills for data engineering and ML workflows
- Experience designing end-to-end ML pipelines (ingestion → feature engineering → training → deployment)
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Experience with machine health datasets and/or condition monitoring
- Background in power, oil, or gas / operational data, equipment telemetry, or industrial IoT
- Familiarity with time-series modeling, forecasting, and anomaly detection
- Experience with Azure ML platforms and orchestration tools
Other / Compliance
- Must successfully pass a background check for cybersecurity access requirements
- Expected to follow and review cybersecurity policies/procedures relevant to the role
Compensation & Work Details
- Remote role with 1 week of training at the Washington office
- US residency required; no visa sponsorship
- Not accepting remote applicants in California, Illinois, and New York at this time
- Salary range: $84,299–$117,636 (based on years of experience)
