Journeyman UI/UX Designer

Role Overview

ITA International is hiring a Journeyman UI/UX Designer to support the design and development of intuitive, user-centered digital solutions for government and commercial customers.

Responsibilities

• User Experience (UX) Design
  • Gather and analyze user requirements, workflows, and business processes to understand user needs and mission objectives
  • Develop personas, journey maps, and user stories to guide design decisions
  • Participate in user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing
• User Interface (UI) Design
  • Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and screen designs for web and mobile applications
  • Build UI components consistent with established design standards and branding guidelines
  • Produce visual designs that improve usability, accessibility, and user engagement
• Collaboration & Development
  • Collaborate with software engineers, business analysts, data scientists, and project managers to ensure designs are technically feasible
  • Translate user needs into clear design artifacts and documentation for agile teams
  • Participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and project meetings
• Usability & Accessibility
  • Evaluate applications for usability and accessibility compliance, including Section 508 where applicable
  • Conduct basic usability testing and document findings and recommendations
  • Incorporate user feedback into continuous design improvements

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX Design, HCI, Communications, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience: 3–10 years in UI/UX design, digital design, or web design
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (or similar)
• Basic understanding of user-centered design and usability best practices
• Strong visual design, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team

Nice to Have

• Experience creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies
• Knowledge of accessibility standards including Section 508 and WCAG
• Exposure to data visualization, dashboard design, or business intelligence applications
• Experience supporting government/defense/public sector customers
• Active Secret clearance or experience supporting the U.S. Government
