Role overview

Citywire Spain is looking for a Madrid-based Journalist to help produce exclusive, original reporting for its daily news service. You’ll cover the Spanish asset management and wealth management sectors, combining fast daily news with deeper research.

What you’ll be doing

• Contribute to Citywire Spain’s online daily news service by sourcing stories and conducting interviews with key industry figures.
• Break original and exclusive news relevant to advisers and the wider investment community.
• Report on asset management operations, regulatory changes, banking, private wealth, and independent financial advisers.
• Balance daily reporting with longer-term research projects aligned to publication deadlines.
• Build and maintain a strong network of contacts across financial services.
• Manage article distribution on social platforms to engage financial professionals.

What we’re looking for

• Native Spanish speaker with professional English proficiency.
• Proven ability to write news stories and features.
• Strong interest in the financial sector with a drive to build expertise in wealth management, banking, and investments.
• Excellent communication skills: build rapport with sources, ask strong questions, and explain complex topics clearly.
• Comfort working with data and modern tools, including Big Data, AI tools, and specialised software to analyze trends and improve storytelling.
• Proactive, self-starting attitude with a focus on deadlines and uncovering original leads.
