Role overview

You will be a Madrid-based Journalist for Citywire Spain, covering Spanish asset management and wealth management. The role focuses on producing original, exclusive news and research rather than simply reworking press releases.

What youll be doing

• Contribute to an online daily news service by sourcing stories and interviewing key figures.
• Break original and exclusive stories relevant to advisers and investors.
• Report on: asset management operations, regulatory changes, banking, private wealth, and independent financial advisers.
• Balance daily reporting with longer-term research aligned to publication deadlines.
• Build and maintain a strong network of contacts across financial services.
• Manage article distribution on social platforms to reach financial professionals.

What were looking for

• Fluent Spanish; professional proficiency in English.
• Proven ability to write news stories and features.
• Curiosity and interest in the financial sector, with a desire to develop expertise in wealth management, banking, and investments.
• Strong communication skills: ability to build rapport, ask effective questions, and explain complex topics clearly.
• Comfort using data and modern tooling, including Big Data, AI tools, and specialised software to analyse trends and improve storytelling.
• Proactive, self-starting mindset with a strong focus on deadlines.
