Job Captain

Role Overview

Ascend Architecture is seeking a Job Captain to support the design, coordination, documentation, and delivery of architectural projects. You will work closely with the Principals and Project Architects, translating design concepts into coordinated, technically rigorous, and buildable documents.

Responsibilities

• Support the team in maintaining design quality, technical rigor, and alignment with client goals.
• Assist with project work plans, schedules, staffing needs, and documentation milestones.
• Organize, develop, and coordinate architectural drawing sets across multiple project phases.
• Apply firm documentation standards and participate in quality-control reviews.
• Research and apply building codes, accessibility requirements, construction standards, and agency requirements.
• Translate design concepts into clear, coordinated, buildable documents.
• Develop architectural details that support design intent and technical needs.
• Identify and help resolve technical, coordination, and documentation issues.
• Coordinate architectural work with structural, civil, landscape, MEP, and other consultants.
• Participate in communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Assist with specifications, product research, submittals, and construction-phase services as assigned.
• Provide support and guidance to junior team members.

Requirements

• 4–8 years of professional architectural experience.
• Experience on projects of comparable type, scale, and complexity.
• Proven ability to organize and coordinate architectural documentation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills; high attention to detail.
• Strong proficiency in Revit.
• Solid understanding of building materials, construction systems, detailing, and construction techniques.
• Ability to develop technically resolved architectural details.
• Familiarity with building codes, accessibility standards, and permitting requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
• Professional degree in architecture; progress toward licensure preferred.
