About the role
Role Overview
Infosys Public Services is seeking a Java Integration Engineer to build and troubleshoot enterprise integration workflows and backend services.
Responsibilities
- Develop object-oriented Java backend services and integration workflows.
- Build and integrate RESTful APIs, including authentication patterns and data transformation.
- Work with Apache Kafka for producing/consuming messages, schema management, and troubleshooting distributed data pipelines.
- Develop and schedule cron jobs / background tasks in enterprise environments.
- Create and optimize SQL queries; tune performance and troubleshoot data issues.
- Build solutions involving Oracle databases (stored procedures, schema design, performance optimization).
- Apply CI/CD practices (e.g., Jenkins or GitHub Actions).
- Implement enterprise integration patterns for multi-upstream/multi-downstream environments.
- Support domain integrations related to Fleet Management / Vehicle Maintenance and/or asset and inventory management concepts.
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum: sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and story estimation.
- Use work management tools (e.g., VersionOne) and follow ITSM processes (incident/problem/change), preferably using ServiceNow.
Requirements
- Strong Java development experience (OOP, backend services) and integration workflows.
- Hands-on experience with API development and integration (REST, authentication, data transformation).
- Proficiency with Apache Kafka (messaging, schema management, distributed pipeline troubleshooting).
- Experience with scheduled automation/background jobs (cron or similar) in enterprise settings.
- Strong SQL skills (complex queries, performance tuning, troubleshooting).
- Experience with Oracle databases (stored procedures, schema design, performance optimization).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or GitHub Actions).
- Understanding of enterprise integration patterns.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Fleet Management / Vehicle Maintenance or asset management domains.
- Knowledge of Inventory Management and parts/workflow integrations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution, or consider 3 years of progressive relevant experience in lieu of each year of education. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Additional Notes
- Full-time role with standard computer-based work; travel may be required as per business needs.
