About the role
Role Overview
Trilogy Federal is seeking a Java Developer to support Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Portfolio clients for the T4NG CCSS and CRMBS programs. The systems manage fiscal, human resources, and construction financial accounting, reporting, and budget execution.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, implement, test, and troubleshoot bug fixes and software enhancements for legacy Java applications.
- Design and implement enhancements using JSF and PrimeFaces.
- Design, develop, and test new features in VA-provided applications.
- Create and update SQL queries for ad hoc database synchronization.
- Provide real-time defect modifications tied to budget execution, data reporting, and auditing across the funding lifecycle.
- Support modernization by providing guidance and best practices for successful Java development.
- Perform XHTML code updates to support Section 508 compliance.
- Maintain Oracle WebLogic Server with an Apache HTTP Server proxy for cloud-based two-factor security.
- Contribute to Oracle database patching and Java server patching with DevOps practices.
- Actively participate in the Oracle year-end process and provide ad hoc fixes as needed.
- Determine user needs, analyze system capabilities, and prepare operating instructions and scripts/tools/utilities.
- Ensure software standards are met and contribute to project milestones.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8 years of professional experience; 5+ years as a developer
- Strong experience with Java, including JSF and PrimeFaces
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, XHTML, JavaScript (ES5+), TypeScript (4.x), and jQuery (3.6+)
- Experience with Oracle SQL including:
- Writing queries and stored procedures
- Creating tables and managing databases
- Experience with:
- Git (version control)
- Linux environments
- Apache HTTP Server
- Oracle WebLogic Server
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet tight deadlines (including in a remote environment)
- Ability to obtain a VA Position of Public Trust - Medium Background Investigation (MBI)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing, developing, and testing new features for enterprise applications
- Strong communication and regular collaboration with cross-functional teams
