Role Overview
Trilogy Federal is seeking a versatile Java Developer to support Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Portfolio clients, specifically the T4NG CCSS (Corporate & Regional Matrixed Budget System) program. The system manages fiscal, human resource, and construction financial accounting systems and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze, implement, test, and troubleshoot software issues, including bug fixes and defect modifications.
- Develop and enhance Java server-side applications using JSF and PrimeFaces.
- Design, develop, and test new features in VA-provided applications.
- Maintain communication with colleagues across development processes.
- Create and update SQL queries for ad hoc database synchronization.
- Support real-time budget execution, data reporting, and auditing across the funding lifecycle.
- Provide guidance and best practices for Java development and modernization efforts.
- Modify XHTML to support Section 508 compliance.
- Maintain Oracle WebLogic Server with an Apache HTTP Server proxy for two-factor security in the cloud.
- Contribute to Oracle and Java server patching with DevOps practices.
- Participate in Oracle year-end processes with users and deliver ad hoc fixes.
- Determine user needs by analyzing system capabilities (inputs, outputs, controls) and producing operating instructions.
- Ensure software standards are met; apply technical standards and sound technical judgment.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience.
- Strong experience with Java, JSF, and PrimeFaces.
- HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, XHTML, and jQuery (3.6.x).
- Oracle SQL (ability to write stored procedures, understand SQL, create tables, and manage databases).
- Experience with Git, APIs, Linux, and AWS.
- Strong work ethic; ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
- Self-starter with positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in a remote environment.
- Ability to obtain a VA Position of Public Trust (MBI—Medium Background Investigation).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with VA Benefits (e.g., health/dental/vision plans, FSA, paid parental leave, Safe Harbor 401(k), paid time off, paid holidays, life/AD&D, pet insurance, phone/internet stipend, tuition/training reimbursement).
