Role overview

RibbitZ is hiring an experienced Java Developer to develop, enhance, and maintain Java and JavaScript web applications in an Agile/Scrum environment. The role involves hands-on coding, testing, prototyping, code reviews, and ongoing maintenance/production support.

Location / work eligibility

Wisconsin residency required (must currently reside in Wisconsin)
Relocation not permitted
Work must be performed within Wisconsin either:
- 100% remote from within Wisconsin, or
- On-site from the designated office in Wisconsin

Responsibilities

Develop and support new and existing software applications
Enhance and maintain Java and JavaScript web applications
Review requirements and choose implementation approaches
Participate as both a developer and code reviewer
Create prototypes / proof-of-concept applications
Support legacy applications and COTS/custom solutions
Implement new tools/technologies and improvements in the SDLC
Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives)
Collaborate with business representatives to refine requirements
Work with QA to deliver testable software
Implement unit tests and support testing activities
Apply security, quality assurance, and development standards
Document application functionality, technical systems, and requirements
Troubleshoot defects and provide production support

Required qualifications

4+ years Java development
3+ years JavaScript development
2+ years SQL
Experience developing Java-based web applications
Experience with front-end framework: Angular, React, or Vue
Experience implementing unit tests
Experience documenting/refining technical systems and business requirements
Experience supporting existing/legacy applications and the full SDLC
Ability to write, review, test, and maintain application code
Strong analytical/problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Ability to work effectively in an Agile team

Preferred qualifications

React (or other single-page application framework)
Spring Boot experience
Git experience
Agile software-development experience
Experience developing prototypes / proof-of-concepts
