Java Developer

Role Overview

Remote Java Developer position at MANTECH. You will design and deliver scalable, secure backend services and microservices while supporting government security and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement microservices using Java with frameworks such as Spring Boot, Quarkus, Micronaut, or MicroProfile
• Build RESTful APIs and backend services compliant with government performance and security standards
• Create unit and integration tests using modern tooling (e.g., JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers)
• Integrate with relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL (JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, SQL)
• Contribute to cloud-first architectures (including AWS GovCloud)
• Help build DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
• Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Infrastructure teams to meet DISA STIG, RMF, and other DoD/DHA mandates
• Support system documentation, security accreditation (ATO) processes, and required technical artifacts

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on Java development
• Experience with Linux and Java web containers (e.g., JBoss, Tomcat)
• Spring Boot or Quarkus or Micronaut or Eclipse MicroProfile
• JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, and SQL (Oracle/PostgreSQL or similar)
• RESTful service design and implementation
• JSON and Swagger/OpenAPI (REST standards)
• Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD tools such as GitLab
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and deliver scalable solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
• Experience supporting DoD, DHA, or other federal healthcare systems
• Experience across multiple OS environments (Windows and Linux distributions such as Alpine, Red Hat, Ubuntu)
• Scripting skills: Python, JavaScript, Bash
• Container experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
