About the role

Role Overview

Zenosys is looking for a Java Developer (contract) to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications. The role supports both ongoing systems work and customer operational/technical inquiries, with potential after-hours/on-call coverage.

Location & Contract

Location: Newark, NJ (remote is mentioned)
Duration: 12+ months contract
Chance to extend: High
Work type: Full-time with after-hours or on-call support (evenings/weekends)

Responsibilities

Encode, test, and debug software programs
Review, analyze, and modify core and customized software
Respond to customer inquiries for technical and operational support
Resolve technical issues to meet service level agreements (SLAs)
Perform root cause analysis, implement fixes, and drive corrective actions
Follow documented Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) standards
Participate in special projects and training
Escalate issues to senior levels as required

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
3+ years Java development experience
Proficiency with Java 1.4+, JSP, XML, and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript)
Understanding of REST/HTTPS/JSON web services
Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and regulations
Strong communication skills (writing reports and presenting information)
Customer service mindset and strong teamwork
