About the role
Role Overview
Zenosys is looking for a Java Developer (contract) to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications. The role supports both ongoing systems work and customer operational/technical inquiries, with potential after-hours/on-call coverage.
Location & Contract
- Location: Newark, NJ (remote is mentioned)
- Duration: 12+ months contract
- Chance to extend: High
- Work type: Full-time with after-hours or on-call support (evenings/weekends)
Responsibilities
- Encode, test, and debug software programs
- Review, analyze, and modify core and customized software
- Respond to customer inquiries for technical and operational support
- Resolve technical issues to meet service level agreements (SLAs)
- Perform root cause analysis, implement fixes, and drive corrective actions
- Follow documented Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) standards
- Participate in special projects and training
- Escalate issues to senior levels as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
- 3+ years Java development experience
- Proficiency with Java 1.4+, JSP, XML, and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript)
- Understanding of REST/HTTPS/JSON web services
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and regulations
- Strong communication skills (writing reports and presenting information)
- Customer service mindset and strong teamwork

- Basic understanding of professional/industry standards and willingness to learn/adopt them
