About the role

Role Overview

Java Developer contributing to the design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-grade Java software systems supporting mission-critical government programs.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Java applications, microservices, and backend systems
Translate functional/technical requirements into scalable software solutions
Build and maintain RESTful APIs and ensure integrations across internal/external services
Collaborate with architects, QA engineers, analysts, and stakeholders in Agile delivery cycles
Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives
Debug and perform root-cause analysis for defects and system issues
Write unit tests and contribute to automated testing/quality efforts
Support code reviews, follow coding standards, and contribute to technical documentation
Assist with deployment activities and production release support

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
5+ years professional software development, with strong Java focus
Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and backend web services
Strong knowledge of Spring Boot / Spring Framework (or similar Java frameworks)
Experience with SQL and relational databases
Proficiency with Git (or other source control)
Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

Cloud experience (AWS or Azure)
DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Containerization: Docker or Kubernetes
Microservices architecture
Automated testing frameworks
Experience supporting government or defense-related programs

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive annual salary: $115,000–$150,000 (based on experience)
