About the role

Role Overview

Java Developer contributing to the design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-grade Java software systems supporting mission-critical government programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Java applications, microservices, and backend systems
  • Translate functional/technical requirements into scalable software solutions
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and ensure integrations across internal/external services
  • Collaborate with architects, QA engineers, analysts, and stakeholders in Agile delivery cycles
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives
  • Debug and perform root-cause analysis for defects and system issues
  • Write unit tests and contribute to automated testing/quality efforts
  • Support code reviews, follow coding standards, and contribute to technical documentation
  • Assist with deployment activities and production release support

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years professional software development, with strong Java focus
  • Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and backend web services
  • Strong knowledge of Spring Boot / Spring Framework (or similar Java frameworks)
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Proficiency with Git (or other source control)
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud experience (AWS or Azure)
  • DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Containerization: Docker or Kubernetes
  • Microservices architecture
  • Automated testing frameworks
  • Experience supporting government or defense-related programs
