About the role
Role Overview
Java Developer contributing to the design, development, integration, and maintenance of enterprise-grade Java software systems supporting mission-critical government programs.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java applications, microservices, and backend systems
- Translate functional/technical requirements into scalable software solutions
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and ensure integrations across internal/external services
- Collaborate with architects, QA engineers, analysts, and stakeholders in Agile delivery cycles
- Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives
- Debug and perform root-cause analysis for defects and system issues
- Write unit tests and contribute to automated testing/quality efforts
- Support code reviews, follow coding standards, and contribute to technical documentation
- Assist with deployment activities and production release support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 5+ years professional software development, with strong Java focus
- Hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and backend web services
- Strong knowledge of Spring Boot / Spring Framework (or similar Java frameworks)
- Experience with SQL and relational databases
- Proficiency with Git (or other source control)
- Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud experience (AWS or Azure)
- DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Containerization: Docker or Kubernetes
- Microservices architecture
- Automated testing frameworks
- Experience supporting government or defense-related programs
Compensation & Benefits
