About the role
Role Overview
Senior Java developer role focused on building and operating secure, scalable backend services and deployment automation in an AWS Kubernetes environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop microservices in Java/J2EE using Spring Boot with JPA/Hibernate
- Lead across the full SDLC: requirements, analysis, design, coding, system/user testing, problem resolution, and planning
- Serve in a leadership capacity by:
- promoting best practices and architectural conventions
- mentoring other engineers
- driving reliable design aligned to architectural standards
- Create reusable patterns to improve team productivity and delivery velocity
- Conduct code reviews and guide engineering best practices in line with development procedures/methodologies
- Support deployment automation to enable a robust, scalable, highly available ecosystem on AWS EKS, using Helm
- Collaborate with DevOps/SRE and related teams to improve the organization’s automation posture (deployment + test automation)
- Work with Cloud Platform Engineering on infrastructure provisioning via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and GitLab pipelines
- Support observability via an ELK-like stack: FluentD, OpenSearch, Kibana
- Manage PKI and secrets handling in a sensitive environment (certificate creation/management, encryption, key cryptography)
- Partner with Test Automation engineers for environment/service validation and additional testing (performance, high availability, destructive testing)
- Assist SRE Operations with triage, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of internal and customer-facing issues
- Drive deployment automation deliverables against a roadmap and customer schedules
Requirements
- Experience working with generative AI (posting states “Experience working with generative AI. At least …” but the remainder is truncated)
- Strong experience delivering Java/J2EE microservices with Spring Boot and persistence using JPA/Hibernate
- Ability to operate and improve reliability/automation practices across deployment, testing, and operations
Nice-to-haves (implied)
- Experience with PKI/secrets management and secure cryptographic practices
- Familiarity with AWS EKS, Helm, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD
- Experience with observability tooling (FluentD/OpenSearch/Kibana) and distributed system reliability
- Performance and high-availability/disaster/destructive testing experience
