About the role
Role Overview
Java Developer (12-month contract-to-hire) for remote work (EST/CST preferred). Join a collaborative team to design, build, and support enterprise applications across the full lifecycle—from development and testing through enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Build and enhance front-end functionality using Angular
- Support server-side scripting and lightweight services using Node.js
- Create and maintain database objects (tables, stored procedures, views, functions) across SQL Server and IBM DB2
- Work cross-functionally in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration
- Use Git for source control and Jira for tracking and sprint planning
- Troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing applications
- Contribute to architecture discussions and propose system design improvements
- Deploy and support applications using Maven
- Support environments using JBoss and Kubernetes, plus monitoring/logging with Splunk and Dynatrace
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent)
- Strong enterprise software development experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
- Experience with Angular
- Working knowledge of Node.js
- Proficient with SQL Server and IBM DB2 (including complex queries and stored procedures)
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Familiarity with Git workflows
- Experience with Jira
- Experience with Maven build tools
- Experience with application servers/orchestration: JBoss and Kubernetes
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools: Splunk / Dynatrace
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with RESTful API development
- Domain familiarity with P&C or claims insurance

- Insurance domain experience (P&C/claims)
