Java Developer

Role Overview

AgileGrid Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Java Developer to join a remote team. You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications, primarily for mission-critical Point-of-Sale systems and microservices in a Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, and document Java applications for mission-critical systems
• Collaborate with product and project managers to provide estimates, progress updates, and technical guidance
• Work in Agile/Lean environments: iterative development cycles, design sessions, and daily stand-ups
• Resolve development roadblocks and contribute to system architecture discussions
• Perform hands-on development and troubleshooting of complex issues
• Mentor junior developers and conduct peer code reviews
• Support distributed teams across time zones with effective communication
• Troubleshoot Azure configurations and optimize Oracle SQL queries
• Apply security best practices and maintain strong system security fundamentals

Requirements

• 10+ years industry experience with 6+ years hands-on development
• Strong proficiency in:
  • Java and J2EE
  • JDBC
  • Spring Boot
  • Web services (SOAP/REST)
• ESB experience with Fuse and Camel
• SSO experience with OAuth2, SAML, OpenID
• Oracle database expertise
• Version control: Git and SVN
• DevOps/tools: Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo
• Cloud: Azure and CI/CD pipeline understanding
• Experience with Kafka and Airflow (strong asset)
• Ability to independently drive product development and troubleshoot complex problems

Nice to Have

• Frontend familiarity: JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, ExtJS, React/Angular, Bootstrap
• Healthcare/insurance domain experience (e.g., healthcare claims, Medicaid, insurance)
