About the role

Role overview

Join an agile team as a Java Developer in a flexible remote working environment (location referenced as Nürnberg). The role focuses on building Warenwirtschafts- and Kassenlösungen (retail management and POS/cash register solutions) and delivering scalable, efficient software for clients worldwide.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and maintain high-quality Java applications for retail management systems
Design and implement DSLs (domain-specific languages) to streamline business processes and increase flexibility
Integrate AI-powered tools to improve system intelligence and automation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
Participate in agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
Ensure code quality via code reviews, testing, and best practices
Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and tools

Requirements

Proven Java development experience and strong object-oriented programming fundamentals
Experience with designing/implementing DSLs
Familiarity integrating AI-supported tools into software solutions
Knowledge of build and deployment processes including CI/CD pipelines
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile environment
German and English communication skills (strong collaboration across diverse teams)
Preferred: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Nice to haves

Experience in retail management / POS-style domains (implied by the product focus)
