About the role
Role Overview
Crossing Hurdles is hiring a Java Developer for an hourly contract role with remote work (10–40 hours/week). You’ll design and build backend services and APIs, collaborating with architects, product teams, and QA.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring
- Build secure, scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs
- Collaborate with architects, product teams, and QA engineers to deliver integrated solutions
- Participate in code reviews and help drive engineering best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend systems for reliability and performance
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code
- Communicate technical concepts and project updates with distributed teams
Requirements
- Strong Java backend experience
- Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Experience building scalable enterprise-grade applications
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
