About the role
Role Overview
Java Backend Developer (MA, Remote) for a 10-month duration. You will work primarily on backend systems (~80–85%) with some exposure to frontend technologies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain enterprise backend services using the Java ecosystem
- Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with data stores
- Work on ETL development and database-related features
- Collaborate on software design, SDLC, and code reviews
- Participate in system deployment/lifecycle management
- Support deployment pipelines and tooling (e.g., CI/CD, Jenkins)
Requirements (Must-Have)
- 5+ years of hands-on Java backend development
- Recent 2–3 projects/clients in the Pharma domain
- Strong backend skills:
- Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA / Hibernate
- RESTful APIs
- SQL and Oracle Database
- ETL development
- Microservices (preferred)
- Maven/Gradle proficiency
- Basic to intermediate frontend knowledge: JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- AngularJS exposure preferred
- Understanding of software design, SDLC, code reviews, and best practices
- Experience with Windows and Linux server administration
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
Nice-to-Haves
- Bioinformatics or cheminformatics exposure
- AngularJS frontend development experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree + 5+ years relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree + 4+ years relevant experience
