Java backend developer

Role Overview

Java Backend Developer (Contract) for a client in Austin, Texas (Remote).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build, integrate, and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices for business requirements.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot backend applications on AWS services such as:
  • EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable code; perform code reviews; apply best practices for:
  • performance, logging, and error handling
• Diagnose and resolve production issues via root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
• 8–10 years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in:
  • Core Java
  • Spring Boot / Spring MVC
  • Building RESTful APIs
• Proven experience deploying and managing backend applications on AWS.

Rate / Compensation

• $47–$49 per hour (negotiable based on experience, education, and location).
