IT Systems Engineer (Client Platform Engineer)

Role Overview

Join Anthropic as an IT Systems Engineer (Client Platform Engineer). You will manage and optimize Anthropic’s device endpoint fleet, ensuring security, efficiency, and robust automation across macOS, Windows, and mobile. You’ll collaborate with security and developer teams while delivering complex systems from design through production.

Key Missions

• Manage the end-to-end device management platform, including underlying infrastructure, configuration, update pipelines, and telemetry.
• Build and implement automation for:
  • Zero-touch provisioning
  • Patch management
  • Software distribution
• Partner with security teams to improve endpoint security, implement compliance controls, and respond to incidents.

Responsibilities / What Success Looks Like

• Deliver complex projects from conception to production.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
• Solve ambiguous problems across multiple stakeholders.
• Go deep on at least one endpoint platform (examples provided) while maintaining hands-on ability with the other.
• Treat endpoint configuration as code (scripted deployments and/or GitOps).
• Bring product engineering rigor to IT engineering.
• Maintain clear documentation as part of normal workflow.

Required / Core Qualifications

• 8+ years building secure IT systems in complex environments (or Staff-level leadership across multiple teams).
• Managed endpoint fleets of thousands of macOS and Windows devices via modern MDM.
• Strong endpoint security fundamentals.
• Ability to query live device state at fleet scale.
• Built automated progressive rollouts with telemetry-gated promotion.
• Experience with device lifecycle automation (zero-touch enrollment, patching, software distribution).
• Operated an MDM/device management platform as a service (not only as SaaS).
• Experience with infrastructure as code in a public cloud.
• Mixed-fleet experience across macOS, Windows, and mobile, with deep expertise in at least one.
• Proficiency building endpoint tools with Swift or Go.
• Scripting and automation skills including Python, shell scripting, and PowerShell.
• GitOps, CI/CD for configuration management, and infrastructure as code.

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals

• Experience with open source endpoint/device management tooling.
• Used LLMs to automate operational work (or excitement to use Claude).
• Understand public cloud fundamentals (containers, managed databases, CDN, monitoring).
• Experience with modern MDM platforms such as Jamf, Intune, Workspace ONE, or equivalents.

Education / Study

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education/training/experience) in a field relevant to the role.

Location / Work Policy

• Full remote with an expectation of being in one of Anthropic’s offices at least 25% of the time. Some roles may require more in-office time.
