About the role

Role overview

You’ll be an iOS Software Engineer on Reddit’s Contributions team, helping power two of the platform’s most important actions: Posting and Commenting. This is a high-impact role where you’ll drive both technical and product strategy, execution, and operational excellence for native iOS experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering to deliver product and business strategy.
  • Own contributions across the full development lifecycle: technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
  • Review code and design docs, and provide feedback on product specs and mocks.
  • Participate in a fast-moving team and contribute to engineering standards.
  • Improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and mentor engineers.
  • Learn continuously and improve both technical and non-technical skills.

Requirements

  • 3+ years post-internship, full-time professional software development experience building user-facing iOS native apps at scale using Swift.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices:
    • unit/integration/end-to-end testing
    • design documents
    • CI/CD
    • A/B testing
    • code reviews and documentation
  • Ability to prioritize, manage schedules, and keep projects on track.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • BS in Computer Science (or similar technical field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Comfort building new things in ambiguity and learning from failure.

Nice to have

  • Experience with GraphQL and REST; understanding HTTP basics.
  • Ability to design maintainable APIs.
  • Experience in one or more additional general-purpose languages: Java, Python, Go, Rust, C++.

Location / work model

  • 100% remote within the United States or Canada.
  • If near an office, hybrid schedule may be available.
