iOS Engineer - Remote

Role Overview

The App Platform team builds the foundational iOS client infrastructure that enables all Whatnot product teams to move quickly while maintaining quality. As an iOS Engineer, you’ll work on core building blocks—shared architecture, stability, networking, persistence, and the Whatnot Design System—so the entire app ecosystem remains consistent and performant.

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain core iOS components and the design system
• Enhance networking and persistence layers to improve performance and reliability
• Lead initiatives to reduce crashes and improve app stability
• Partner with product teams to ensure efficient, user-centric development practices
• Contribute to shared architecture and technical standards across platforms
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold quality
• Stay current with iOS trends and incorporate best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in Swift with strong iOS fundamentals
• Experience building UI with SwiftUI architecture
• Proven ability to deliver user-facing features quickly and efficiently
• Strong product instincts with a focus on user experience
• Excellent problem-solving skills and independent execution
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with e-commerce or social media products
• Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and/or analytics instrumentation and growth experimentation tools

Location / Remote

• Remote work is supported, with a preference for candidates within commuting distance of hubs in New York, Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles.
