InterSystems IRIS Developer (Remote Opportunity)

Role overview

VetsEZ is seeking a hands-on HealthShare / InterSystems IRIS Developer for a fully remote team. You will actively develop in ObjectScript, work in the IRIS / HealthShare Management Portal, and build, test, and support healthcare integration services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and document ObjectScript-based solutions in InterSystems IRIS and HealthShare
• Build and maintain HealthShare productions, including business services, processes, and operations
• Use the IRIS / HealthShare Management Portal for configuration, troubleshooting, and runtime analysis
• Build and maintain FHIR, HL7, and REST-based integrations
• Develop and optimize custom ObjectScript classes, APIs, and interoperability components
• Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and refactoring of existing HealthShare solutions
• Support Tier 3 application-level issues (message flow debugging, data validation, and production errors)
• Collaborate with architects, QA, and DevOps to support CI/CD pipelines for InterSystems deployments
• Assist with OAuth/SSO and security configuration related to application behavior and integrations
• Contribute to technical documentation and developer best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–5 years professional software development; 2+ years developing on InterSystems Cache, IRIS, or HealthShare
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • ObjectScript development
  • IRIS / HealthShare Management Portal
  • HealthShare productions and interoperability framework
  • Developing/consuming FHIR APIs, HL7 v2, and RESTful web services
• Experience debugging production message flows and application-level issues
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts for InterSystems deployments
• Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments
• Understanding of Agile or SAFe methodologies

Nice to have

• Experience supporting VA or federal healthcare systems
• Exposure to Jenkins, Git, or automated deployment pipelines for InterSystems apps
• InterSystems certifications (IRIS, HealthShare, or Cache)
• Ability to obtain government clearance
