About the role
Role Overview
Intermediate Designer / Job Captain to support the design and delivery of residential and institutional architecture projects from concept through construction. You will work closely with the principal and project leadership to advance project coordination, documentation, and team communication, with the opportunity to grow into greater responsibility over time.
Responsibilities
- Produce drawing sets and technical documentation across project phases (with guidance).
- Develop and coordinate architectural details that match design intent and constructability.
- Support Project Architects and Project Managers with coordination and documentation.
- Contribute to drawings, models, and presentation materials.
- Assist with permitting documentation (code research, zoning review, agency submittals).
- Coordinate with consultants and integrate engineering systems into project documents.
- Maintain organized, consistent, high-quality drawing sets aligned to studio standards.
- Support construction administration tasks as needed (e.g., RFIs and submittals).
- Communicate clearly and contribute to a collaborative, accountable workflow.
Required Skills / Qualifications
- Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture (BA/BS or MA/MS).
- 3–5 years experience in a professional architecture office.
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
- Experience contributing to drawing sets and coordinating technical documentation.
- Knowledge of construction methods, detailing, and building systems.
- Familiarity with California codes, zoning, and permitting processes; ability to learn new jurisdictions.
- Strong design sensibility with attention to detail and craft.
- Organized, proactive, and able to follow through independently while seeking guidance appropriately.
- Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset.
Nice-to-haves / Growth Path
- Interest in taking on more responsibility, with mentorship toward Project Architect / Project Manager roles.
Location & Work Mode
- Currently remote, with an expected transition to hybrid Bay Area schedule.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
