About the role
Role Overview
Part-time, remote Interdisciplinary Designer at Friendly Futures. You’ll collaborate with Creative Directors and the design team to develop playful, people-centered projects—from early concepts through Rhino models to polished presentations. The role has potential to grow into a full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on the design of social experiences in the built environment (including Neighborhood Games and other playful interventions)
- Contribute to both spatial design and experiential/rule-based thinking
- Create 3D models in Rhino and produce drawings, diagrams, and presentation materials
- Translate rough ideas into clear, compelling visual stories
- Provide creative input focused on connection, play, and community
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Rhino
- Background in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Game Design, or related fields
- 1–2 years of experience (including internships)
- Portfolio demonstrating strong design judgment and original thinking (ideally work exploring play, interaction, or how people use space)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Interest in how people behave in spaces (social dynamics, public life, human interaction)
Bonus / Nice-to-Haves
- Experience teaching, facilitating workshops, or organizing clubs/community events
Ideal Candidate
- Recently graduated or in graduate school with a strong design foundation
- Comfortable moving between spatial design and experience design
- Enjoys building interaction ideas in Rhino and thinking through how people move and connect in space
