About the role

Role Overview

Part-time, remote Interdisciplinary Designer at Friendly Futures. You’ll collaborate with Creative Directors and the design team to develop playful, people-centered projects—from early concepts through Rhino models to polished presentations. The role has potential to grow into a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design of social experiences in the built environment (including Neighborhood Games and other playful interventions)
  • Contribute to both spatial design and experiential/rule-based thinking
  • Create 3D models in Rhino and produce drawings, diagrams, and presentation materials
  • Translate rough ideas into clear, compelling visual stories
  • Provide creative input focused on connection, play, and community

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Rhino
  • Background in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Game Design, or related fields
  • 1–2 years of experience (including internships)
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong design judgment and original thinking (ideally work exploring play, interaction, or how people use space)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Interest in how people behave in spaces (social dynamics, public life, human interaction)

Bonus / Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience teaching, facilitating workshops, or organizing clubs/community events

Ideal Candidate

  • Recently graduated or in graduate school with a strong design foundation
  • Comfortable moving between spatial design and experience design
  • Enjoys building interaction ideas in Rhino and thinking through how people move and connect in space

About Friendly Futures

Friendly Futures is a social architecture practice focused on creating friendlier worlds by designing places, systems, and experiences that bring people together. Its signature work includes Neighborhood Games—bespoke, site-specific, intergenerational games that transform everyday spaces into more joyful, connected places.
