About the role
Role Overview
LTS is seeking an Infrastructure Architect to support a major modernization initiative for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health portfolio. You will design secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for mission-critical Veteran healthcare systems, including efforts related to VistA and MUMPS-based applications, enterprise integration, and cloud enablement.
Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure architecture and modernization for large-scale VA enterprise health systems.
- Design and implement secure, scalable hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure solutions.
- Support modernization and migration of legacy healthcare platforms, including VistA/MUMPS-based environments.
- Review and validate AI-generated infrastructure outputs (recommendations, deployment specifications, configurations) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with VA/federal requirements before implementation.
- Coordinate with VA government stakeholders to ensure AI platform infrastructure components meet federal standards.
- Serve as the primary infrastructure liaison between the VA environment and the LTS product development team.
- Develop infrastructure roadmaps, reference architectures, and technical standards aligned with VA and federal requirements.
- Collaborate with application, database, cybersecurity, and DevSecOps teams on modernization initiatives.
- Architect for high availability, disaster recovery, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging infrastructure technologies, tooling, and modernization strategies.
- Support infrastructure integration across cloud, data center, network, storage, virtualization, and identity management.
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, and Zero Trust.
- Participate in architecture governance, technical reviews, engineering assessments, and modernization planning.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering and operations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to documentation such as architecture diagrams, technical design documents, implementation plans, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering or architecture.
- Experience supporting large-scale federal IT modernization programs, preferably within VA or healthcare.
- Proven ability to critically evaluate AI-generated technical outputs (infrastructure specs, environment recommendations, configurations) for correctness and compliance prior to implementation.
- Strong experience with hybrid cloud architectures using AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience designing enterprise infrastructure involving virtualization, storage, networking, identity management, and compute.
- Knowledge of infrastructure modernization strategies for legacy applications (statement appears truncated in the posting).
