Human Resources Specialist

Role Overview

HR Operations Specialist for a leading healthcare organization, supporting HR transactions and employee inquiries in a fast-paced, customer-focused HR team.

• Location: Remote (California Residents Only)
• Duration: 6-month contract

Responsibilities

• Review HRIS transactional process requests daily and weekly; approve/reject transactions according to HR policies.
• Apply core HR policies and processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant transaction processing.
• Escalate complex transactional issues and policy questions to HR leadership when needed.
• Manage employee HR cases (calls and chats) covering topics such as:
  • Benefits, compensation, wellness programs
  • Leave of absence, payroll
  • Performance management and other HR inquiries
• Collaborate with cross-functional HR teams (e.g., Benefits, Payroll, HR Technology, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Retirement, Eligibility, Corporate Real Estate).
• Provide high-quality customer service and improve the employee experience.
• Identify trends in employee inquiries and partner with leadership on process improvements or escalations.
• Serve as a trusted HR resource while meeting compliance and service standards.

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Resourceful, self-sufficient, able to work independently and efficiently.
• Strong ownership/accountability and a growth mindset (learn quickly, welcome feedback).
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a customer-first approach.
• Strong understanding of HR processes, policies, and employee support functions.
• Experience handling HR service requests or HR operations in a shared services/HR support environment.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in HR or related field OR 5+ years of HR experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle HCM.
• Experience with UKG (Ultipro) and/or ServiceNow.
• Broad HR knowledge; SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
• Relationship-building and stakeholder management experience.
• Experience supporting multiple HR Centers of Excellence.
